Ala Archa gorge

Ala Archa gorge

National Park is one of the favorite places for weekend tours. It is situated close to Bishkek city just 45 km in Ala Archa gorge. During one hour drive you will rise from 750 to 2100 meters above sea level and get to the virgin nature from the centre of capital city. The words Ala-Archa mean Bright Juniper. And juniper grows everywhere there. It is a sacred tree for Kyrgyz and they use it in all their rituals. When a child is born his cradle made of juniper, and when the man dies his coffin will be also made of this sacred tree.
